Tips from our physiotherapists to keep you moving

May is Physiotherapy Awareness Month, and we’re spotlighting the power of movement and recovery.

Two of our Physiotherapists, Allison and Jessica, found their passion for physio through personal injuries in sports. Their own experiences inspired them to help others get back to doing what they love, pain-free and stronger than ever.

Now, they’re the ones guiding recovery, rebuilding strength, and celebrating every small victory with their patients.

Here are their top tips to stay strong, mobile, and injury-free:

  • Move your body every day — even short walks count
  • Warm up and cool down with intention
  • Mix in cardio, strength, and flexibility exercises
  • Pay attention to pain and rest when needed
  • Prioritize posture, sleep, hydration, and nutrition

Just 30 minutes of daily activity can make a big difference.

Ask your family doctor about what physiotherapist services are available to you.

Nurses who inspire: A week to celebrate their care and commitment

This National Nursing Week, we’re celebrating the incredible nurses  who play an essential role in ensuring your health and well-being. They are often the first and last point of contact in your care journey, providing treatment, answering questions, offering comfort, and helping you navigate your health concerns with confidence.

At the CWC PCN, our nurses do so much more than provide medical care. They listen, support, guide, and advocate. They show up every day with compassion and strength — offering comfort in times of uncertainty and encouragement when it’s needed most.

To celebrate our nursing team, we asked some of our nurses to share why they chose this path, what they find most rewarding, and what keeps them inspired. Their reflections were powerful reminders of the meaning behind the profession. What stood out most was their unwavering commitment to making a difference. You can find their responses here on our social media accounts.

Honouring the physicians who care for us all

At the CWC PCN, we’re proud  to work alongside our physician members who support patients every day with skill, empathy, and commitment.

May includes two important dates to honour physicians: National Physicians Day and World Family Doctor Day. These occasions give us the opportunity to reflect on the vital role family doctors play in individual lives and the health of entire communities.

To mark the month, our PCN has joined forces with other Primary Care Networks throughout Alberta to launch a social media appreciation series, highlighting the dedication and impact of family physicians across the region.

You can follow along with the stories and tributes and see the full series on our Instagram and Facebook pages. We hope you’ll join us, share your thanks, and help us celebrate the doctors who go above and beyond every day.

Thank you to our family doctors — your care makes a world of difference.

Prioritizing your mental health

Mental health is just as important as physical health, yet it’s often overlooked.

Mental Health Month is a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage open conversations about emotional well-being.

Many people experience stress, anxiety, or other mental health challenges at some point in their lives. Taking small steps to care for your mental health, such as getting enough sleep, staying active, connecting with loved ones, and practicing mindfulness, can make a big difference.

How our team can support you:

  • Social Workers: Provide guidance, emotional support, and help with life transitions, stress management, and accessing community resources.
  • Psychologists: Offer therapy and evidence-based treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns.
  • Primary Care Registered Nurses: Support mental health education, stress management, and overall well-being.

Talk to your family doctor if you need mental health support.
