Nourishing your health: Introducing our new dietitian services

"A healthy outside starts from the inside.” – CWC PCN Primary Care Registered Dietitian team.

We are happy to announce that patients of doctors who are members of our PCN can now be referred to our Primary Care Registered Dietitians.

Dietitians are healthcare professionals specializing in nutrition who support individuals in managing their dietary needs.

This new program  supports patients – ages 10 and up – who are otherwise unable to access one-on-one dietitian support for:

  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Ulcerative colitis
  • Celiac disease
  • Liver health
  • Kidney health

Eligible patients referred to the program by their doctor will be connected to the most appropriate type of care for their unique needs.

Our PCN is proud to offer dietitian services so the doctors in our membership can connect their patients who are otherwise unable to access one-on-one dietitian support with our team.

Recognizing family doctors this May

Every month is a good month to show family doctors our appreciation, and May is home to two special days in particular — National Physicians Day and World Family Doctor Day.

The doctors in our membership are the foundation of our PCN, and we proudly feature them throughout the year in our social media posts.

For May,  we have collaborated with the other PCNs in and around Calgary to create an appreciation series featuring family doctors centred around World Family Doctor Day (Sunday, May 19).

The first post in the series is already out on our Instagram and Facebook accounts with more to come. Thank you, family doctors!

Follow us for more,  and check out the Alberta College of Family Physicians' web page to join in the World Family Doctor Day celebrations.

Champions of care: Celebrating National Nursing Week

National Nursing Week is held on the first full week of May every year. We celebrated with an extra special thank you to all the nurses on our team.

Our nurses have expertise in health education and chronic disease management to help patients achieve their health goals. Their clinical expertise and additional training allow them to support their patients in making changes toward achieving their best health.

Last week, we shined the spotlight on Christie McCaughan, a Registered Nurse with our Senior Services team.

She shared with us some of the ways she helps her patients and why she decided to become a nurse. Christie’s passion for her work is just one example of the amazing team of nurses at our PCN.

We are incredibly grateful for all our nurses and their contributions to our community.

Watch Christie’s story in part one and part two for what she had to say about her role as a nurse.

Results are in for the 2023 Patient Experience Survey

We are happy to share with you the results of our 2023 Patient Experience Survey!

Our Patient Experience Survey is administered every year by our PCN to collect feedback about the care patients receive from our Primary Care Registered Nurses (PCRNs).

For 2023, we expanded this to include feedback on the care patients receive from our Registered Nurses - Senior Services, Primary Care Registered Psychologists (PCRPs), and Social Workers.

We are pleased to see overwhelmingly positive feedback from our patients:

  • 92 per cent rated the care they received from a PCRP as excellent or very good
  • 100 per cent rated the care they received from a Social Worker as excellent or very good
  • 96 per cent rated the care they received from a PCRN as excellent or very good
  • 100 per cent rated the care they received from a Registered Nurse with the Senior Services program as excellent or very good

We will continue to use this feedback to further develop the support we offer to the doctors in our membership, patients, and community.
